My adult blog sales have increased from $1188 in April to $1809.78 in May, so it’s becoming a significant portion of my adult income. I’ve decided to buckle down and write more posts and add more adult blogs to my network and see if I can beat the income I get from TGP gallery submitting by the end of the year. I currently have 40 adult blogs and most are updated once every 23 days, though some do have frequent updates.

As I mentioned in ‘my blog empire, phase I‘ back in October of 2009, my initial foray into blogs was not too successful. I came to the decision that unique hand written posts targeting certain keywords were essential to getting good search engine placements. With RSS and morph feeds you just cannot control the keywords you want. It’s a total crap shoot. While RSS fed blogs are build and forget, I just don’t think they can compete against a well written blog that knows how to target adult search terms.

So I ended up writing 6-10 unique posts for each adult blog and setting them to auto update about once a month, because I was skeptical and didn’t want to work too hard. I also centralized my niche blog posts into one central porn blog. I didn’t make up any stories or backgrounds, I mostly just wrote what I thought about when I saw the gallery or page I was linking to, and made sure my main key phrase was in the title and used several times in the post itself. I also made sure whenever I had a noun in my niche I had an adjective(s) for it. So not just ‘milf’ but ‘busty milf’ or ‘horny blonde milf’ etc. These came out to usually 100 sometimes 200 words or so. I don’t claim to be an expert, but it’s time to report the changes I see on my adult blogs.

It’s mostly encouraging news. It took a couple months, but many of them now have top ten Google spots, and some have #1 spots. That’s quite a jump. For my top blog, Google Analytics reports ‘Search sent 278,296 total visits via 11,347 keywords’ for the previous 30 days. Unfortunately, some still don’t rank well. Still, I’m happy with the results so far, considering I rarely update the blogs and they’re now ranking better than ever. What should I do next? Build more adult blogs? Write posts more frequently? Get more incoming hard links? Better monetize the ads? Probably some combination of the four. I wondered how they fit into my monthly sales figures, and ended up breaking my sales down for April.

These numbers are new sales and does not include rebills from previous months.

This is misleading, since half the available links on the freesite point back to my network, so those sales from this traffic source would show in those categories instead.

I may ramble a bit but writing this stuff down helps me sort it out. Maybe someone finds this info useful?

After hearing about blogs here, there, and everywhere, I took the learning steps with WordPress and set up a series of 17 blogs in August 2008. I used a mix of paid and free templates, and added 20-50 posts for each. Some were 100% unique, but most were hand morphed from gallery descriptions, replacing and mixing sentences and keywords to match the blog niche. I added all the good plugins, including one that automatically posts drafts every X hours. I set mine to update every 1-3 days, and I figured I’d revisit the blogs in a month or two to see how much Google loved them, and tweak accordingly.

Dumb.

I made a lot of common mistakes. I come from a TGP gallery background, so you’ll have to cut me some slack. I wasn’t familiar with WordPress or even adult SEO much back then. The first blunder was registering keyword domains (with hyphens) thinking that would practically guarantee top spots for that search term. That was wrong, as the domain name is only 1 of about 80 things Google looks at in it’s mystic formula.

The biggest mistake was I targeted too many key phrases, and much too wide. New blogs with no PR/authority are not going to rank well, if at all, for ‘teen sex’, ‘milf pussy’, ‘hot blondes’, etc. It’s best to start with 3-5 ‘long tail’ key phrases with less competition so ranking is easier. Once more PR/authority is established, I believe shorter key phrases can be targeted with better results.

Another mistake was updating too often. I think every time the spider bots visited each blog they had a completely different site to digest because all the blog posts were new. Some blog posts probably cycled off the main page before they were even seen by a spider bot. Since my key phrases were all over the place I didn’t get much juice for any of them. From what I understand, the higher the site PR, the more often and more deep the site is crawled. I’ve seen many blogs with top search terms that haven’t been updated in over 6 months.

I also made my titles WAY too descriptive, like a TGP gallery or LL freesite description. Each title should only be the 3-5 key phrases you’re targeting, if possible, and repeated several times in the blog post itself depending on length. My original ones were like 10+ words long.

Last but probably not least, I morphed text from various different gallerie descriptions, making different writing styles which made it more difficult to target the keywords I wanted, and probably turned off potential readers.

Basically, my first experience with adult blogs turned out to be what NOT to do, with few search results and none of those in the top 20. They only made sales because I had my own traffic source, linking back from TGP galleries and LL freesites. At least they all received PR 1 or 2 to help with link trades. I’ve taken my mistakes and avoided them on my new blogs, giving my ‘phase II’ blogs a much better success rate so far, with many of them getting top search terms. The best keyword so far brings in 10k SE hits/day. More on that next time.

This is a simple tutorial on how to install an adult blog on your domain and server using WordPress 2.7. If you don’t have the money for a domain and server, you can set up a free hosted adult blog on services like Sensual Writer. Although your adult blog’s functionality will be limited and other adult webmasters may laugh at you, it IS free. On the other hand an adult domain name can be registered for less than $10 and the monthly fee for an adult virtual server starts at $20. If you can’t afford that to create an adult blog then this business probably isn’t for you.

Installing WordPress on your own server

If you’re paying for a managed server, you can ask your hosting provider to install WordPress for you on your domain.

If you’re not very technical, you can try the EasyWP WordPress Installer to do the work for you.

Most people download the latest version of WordPress and follow the very easy WordPress installation instructions.

When finished your WordPress adult blog will be live with the default design template. Let’s log in to the WordPress Site Admin.

Setting some recommended defaults

Users->admin. If you want to change the default password.

Settings->General. Enter a tagline for your adult blog.

Settings->Discussion. Uncheck ‘Allow people to post comments on the article’ to avoid comment spam.

Settings->Permalinks. Choose anything but the default to avoid query links for your pages. After you save changes, copy the given code into your .htaccess file as directed.

Changing the template for the adult blog

Time to choose a design for your adult blog! You can either purchase a custom or semi-exclusive blog template from a designer if you want something specific, or use one of the many free templates available under the GPL and Creative Commons license. Basically the authors create the free templates and ask that you retain the small links at the bottom that link back to the author’s sites. A good place to start is the WordPress Free Themes Directory. You’ll find TONS of sites with WordPress templates via a web search. For free adult templates check out 100+ Adult Friendly WordPress Themes. Note that you can switch any images you like, including the header image, so don’t let that prevent you from using a theme. In fact, choose several themes you like you can easily install and switch between them as you create an adult blog before making your final choice.

For this example I’ll be using the Sexy Round Free WordPress Template. Download the zip file provided and upload the unzipped folder to the /wp-content/themes/ directory on the adult blog server. In the WordPress Site Admin, click on Appearance->Themes and the ‘Sexy Round’ theme is now listed as an available template. Click on ‘Sexy Round‘ and a preview window shows what the design will look like on your adult blog. To accept this theme click on ‘Activate Sexy Round‘ in the top right corner of the preview window.

It’s common to change the header image to reflect your adult blog content. You can change the colors too if you want. In the WordPress Site Admin, click on Appearance->Editor to bring up the style sheet for editing. You should know some basic CSS for this.

Changing the sidebars on the adult blog

Every WordPress template comes with default sidebars, but you should change these to whatever you wish. In the WordPress Site Admin, click on Appearance->Widgets and click on the widgets you would like to add to your sidebar(s). You can click and drag the current widgets to reorder them. Commonly used widgets are Search, Categories, Archives, and Links. You would use the Text widgets to enter the code for your banners and affiliate links.

Adding Plugins to the adult blog

These are optional pieces of code you can add to WordPress to add or change its functionality. There are many to choose from, but one you should definitely install is All in One SEO. To install a plugin, download the zip file to your computer. Then in the WordPress Site Admin, click on Plugins->Add New. Click on the Browse dialog button and select the zip file before clicking Install Now. Enter your ftp Connection Information and click Proceed (if you don’t know your ftp details ask your hosting provider). If everything is correct WordPress will report ‘Successfully installed the plugin’ and you can click on Activate Plugin. If there are any options for the plugin there will be a link in the WordPress Site Admin under Settings.

Adding Content to the adult blog

A blog is meant to be updated on a regular basis with commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. You can do this by manually adding entries in the WordPress Site Admin and/or adding a plugin such as WP-O-Matic that can pull entries from RSS feeds provided by adult affiliate programs.

If you create your own posts, you can match the layout of your adult blog easier as well as having unique content that can target specific key phrases. Search engines love unique content, but it does take work to create keyword rich posts that you’ll rank well for. The more often you create unique posts, the more content search engines will have to rank for your adult blog pages.

If you use sponsor provided RSS feeds, you will be pulling entries that the sponsor has to promote the target site and publishing them on your adult blog automatically as they are made available. Once set up, your adult blog can update on its own from these RSS feeds. Some downsides are: any feed post images may not fit your adult blog design, the writing/spelling/grammar may be poor, the feed posts may be used by many other affiliates so the search engines will probably see them as duplicate content, and the feed posts will not be optimized for your keywords. There are ‘morphing’ RSS feeds, where some software will automatically replace words (primarily synonyms) in the original text to try and make the post unique for each user. However English is a complex language, and sometimes the results can be nonsensical. I suggest you never trust morphing feeds.

What’s next for your adult blog

After you have a few posts published, your adult blog is now ready for traffic. If you’ve written unique content with keyword optimization, search engines will soon be crawling your site for content to possibly include in their rankings, and you can work on increasing your inbound links for your adult blog. These will increase the strength and quality of your site in the search engine algorithms and possibly give higher rankings for the keyword phrases on your pages.

My final adult blog result with the Sexy Round theme is FTV Girl Danielle.

Found this on an adult blog recently, a morphed adult RSS feed gone horribly wrong:

“We are introduced to this rattling artful teen, as she shows soured her lowercase figure, and heads over to a liquid fountain… experience up her skirt. Then at a park, she fingers herself, motion herself on. Then in a sound season dress, she continues activity outdoors, and masturbates with a vibrator. Next to a horny coiffe and heels, she gives herself a lowercase more worldly look, experience at a restaurant/mall area. On whatever stairs in a open place, she masturbates with a render toy, hornlike and fast. She has a artful butt, and gives us whatever laughingstock disrespect spreads. Later in the evening, unclothed in her room with her material up, she heads discover to the crowning of the housing complex, and masturbates until the solarise sets with a toy. Then she takes a kinda super cucumber, and masturbates on the balcony, attractive it as unfathomable as she can. The incoming day, she visits an arboretum, with a chromatic season coiffe on. She seems to hit so some artful dresses! More experience and behave endeavor at a college area, then goes bag to stir with a banana. More vibrator state and extremity closeups…”

“We are introduced to this very cute teen, as she shows off her little figure, and heads over to a water fountain… flashing up her skirt. Then at a park, she fingers herself, turning herself on. Then in a pink summer dress, she continues playing outdoors, and masturbates with a vibrator. Next to a sexy dress and heels, she gives herself a little more sophisticated look, flashing at a restaurant/mall area. On some stairs in a public place, she masturbates with a glass toy, hard and fast. She has a cute butt, and gives us some butt cheek spreads. Later in the evening, naked in her bedroom with her hair up, she heads out to the top of the apartment complex, and masturbates until the sun sets with a toy. Then she takes a rather large cucumber, and masturbates on the balcony, taking it as deep as she can. The next day, she visits an arboretum, with a yellow summer dress on. She seems to have so many cute dresses! More flashing and toy play at a college area, then goes home to masturbate with a banana. More vibrator action and extreme closeups…”

Sure the first paragraph is unique, but it’s so random it doesn’t make much sense, and there’s no effort to concentrate on specific keywords. It’s value to blog readers and search engines is a big fat zero. A much better solution would have been to manually add or replace words and sentences in the original sponsor text to make it unique as well as increase the density for your target keywords. That would be a couple of minutes well worth the time invested.

Morphing text relies on software to replace words in the entry while still being readable. English is a complex language, even for native speakers, and it would be extremely difficult for any software to correctly duplicate the incredible amount of permutations in a single paragraph. Some software will do better than others, but if you care about your adult blog content you will ensure this doesn’t happen to you.
